Let me begin by saying that In my opinion that there is total and complete recovery from addiction. I do not believe the saying that once an addict always an addict. I’ve been addiction free for 28 years. Unfortunately, my Addiction Recovery did not come from dealing with a program. My family was unaware of the Counter-dependency available to us during my addiction. For me it finally came down to a choice. I had to chose between my marriage or my addiction. Fortunately, I was in a place where I made the right choice and choose my marriage. It took along time and a lot of work to overcome my addiction.
Finding the cause for my addiction was key (and took the longest) but, once the root issue was discovered I began my Addiction Recovery. Like so many addicts I started out smoking pot and progressed after that until I had been doing my drug of choice daily at the cost of everything and everybody around me. I lost valuable time with my oldest daughter and many years of a meaningful relationship with our kids. Throughout your addiction you don’t really have friends, you may have your partying buddies and when an emergency arises in your life these are no where available. Real friends walk with you through everything. My addiction included alcohol along with drugs and I drank almost everyday. From the moment I made the decision to avoid the addiction cycle inside my life, it became a stride at the same time and it was hard.
When I began coming out of my addictive lifestyle the things i seen in its wake was plenty of fear and insecurities within myself, broken relationships without any real idea a few things i was going to do along with the rest of my entire life. I truly began one step at any given time and something day at a time. During my recovery my brother was killed in a motorcycle accident and thru that grieving process occurs when I chose to enable God into assist me to. It took a long period but healing came, direction for my well being came and my marriage flourished. I completed Senior High School, graduated from College and possess started my own business, which now features a business that enables me to work at home by way of a blogging platform.
Addiction Recovery Is Possible. When the cause for any addiction is identified and worked through then your main reason to your addiction is not one factor. For most who remain addicts throughout their lives this is due to they have not identified their real cause, are certainly not ready to work through their issues and allow healing to happen. Many desire to remain a victim with their circumstance, not realizing just what the future would hold on their behalf when they would rid yourself of their victim mentality. Creating a relationship with God was key for my recovery, it is actually through that relationship that true healing happened.
My need for drugs and alcohol is completely gone. Through constructing a relationship with God my self worth was restored, relationships were restored and i also discovered a feeling of purpose for my life. Through my recovery I gained the skill set needed to turn into a better wife, mother, friend and employee ( which now has turned into a business proprietor). My road to recovery could have taken a much different route if we had known about the programs available to us. Programs for addiction recovery are valuable tools, not only to the addicts but to there families as well.
Addiction Recovery and Programs. Although I ultimately gained freedom from my addictions a program for addiction recovery would have been an excellent benefit to me. Programs offer support systems, counseling, aide in identifying your triggers. Programs offer tools that you can use throughout your life for many situations that you simply will face. Programs offer you the opportunity to escape your familiar surroundings which aides within your process of healing. After several years of addiction recovery I began vxktfb for Teen Challenge that is a faith-based addiction recovery program:.
First as a Development Director then being a Program Director. While this is an excellent program there were some additional steps that I wanted to offer those seeking help, so my hubby and i also opened our own recovery program and for a long time we welcomed those seeking help into our home. They lived along with us for around a year so we dealt with them step by step, it absolutely was one of the most rewarding experience We have ever endured in my life.
We closed this program because we knew the time had come to go in a different direction with this lives, but we have been always reaching out to those searching for help themselves or a member of family looking for help for just one they love. I am just getting ready to start performing some volunteer make use of a program in our area. Attempting to help addicts overcome their addiction is very rewarding work which is something which I will be part of for the remainder of my life in one method or another. Should you or someone inside your loved ones are struggling with addiction, research recovery programs and you may find the appropriate fit to suit your needs.
